The cardinal objective of Social Studies education is to create awareness and understanding of our social and physical environment in order to conserve it for national development; as well as to inculcate in the citizens the capacity to learn and acquire certain basic skills of literacy, numeracy and critical thinking essential to the forming of sound judgement concerning, economic and political issues.
